Norton Motorcycle Company
Motorcycles are today, a very important means of transportation. This single-track, two-wheeled motor vehicle powered by an engine able to go at high speeds became very popular with people to travel long distance. This mode of transport was not as expensive as a four wheel drive and was very handy to travel at places where a four wheel could not reach. Today there are many motorcycle manufacturers around the world and there are almost 200 million motorcycles riding. The Norton Motorcycle Company is one of them. Norton from Birmingham is a British motorcycle marque founded in 1898. This company originally made fittings and parts fro two wheel trade. It was only 1902 that they began to manufacture their own motorcycles but that too with engines of other companies. The Norton motorcycle company began manufacturing its engine in 1908 and began using this for their bikes. They produced twin-cylinder motorcycles. The company went bankrupt tin 1953. It was again revived in 2008 when a UK businessman Stuart Garner, bought the rights and began manufacturing motorcycles. They intend to develop the NRV588 racer, and new ranges of motorcycles under the Norton brand. This will include the 750 cc Super sport and the 1200 cc Superbike variants.
